Sydney Water Experience Day for Year 8 & 9 Girls

Year 8 and 9 students from Cumberland High School, as part of our Future is Bright program, attended a Sydney Water experience day as part of the Women NSW Investing in Women initiative.

The students had the opportunity to learn about all aspects of water including a presentation by Veronica Murphy on indigenous artefacts then onto learning how water leak detection dogs work and of course the day wasn't complete without learning about robotics.

They finished with an inspirational panel including a previous Cumberland High School alumni sharing their story on how a sporting injury resulted in a career change working with Sydney Water.

Ensuring girls have access to these experiences is key to encourage them to consider trades and STEM as a career pathway.

Thank you Aoife Kearns and team from Sydney Water and Suzette Meade and team from Western Sydney Women for working together to make this awesome event a reality.
