Careers Connect Jobs of the Future 2024
During June we held Careers Connect Job Readiness Training and Jobs Information Sessions in Parramatta and Penrith, connecting with almost 100 women looking to re-enter the workforce or change their careers.
With funding from Workforce Australia Local Jobs and in partnership with AMES Australia, this program has launched a platform for women seeking to advance their job seeking journeys.
During the Job Readiness Training, women were guided through sessions on confidence and getting job interview ready. Participants then dove into LinkedIn training and a session on how to create a specialised CVs to help with in their targeted job search.
The Jobs Information Sessions had representatives from Lendlease, Endeavour Energy (NSW), Penrith City Council, John Holland and Western Sydney International Airport introducing their businesses to the women and participating in a Q&A panel.
Our job seekers also had the opportunity to discuss potential job opportunities with the employers directly - with many able to present their CVs to them on the day.
To wrap up the program, Sydney Water hosted us at their offices for our final session. During this session our participants learnt more about the opportunities available at Sydney Water and heard directly from women who have undertaken traineeships with the organisation.
"I attended the first session in Penrith on Tuesday and it was excellent. Such valuable insights from Tiz Porreca. Thank you Western Sydney Women 👏🏼"
With some excellent feedback received from participants, the Careers Connect program has served as an invaluable platform for career development in the region and we look forward to continuing to support women searching for work in Western Sydney.
